It’s the End [of school]! (at least from now until next year…)

Finally, a year of JC life has ended for me… I feel that this year was quite well spent. I’m quite satisfied with my studies, though there is a lot of room for improvement. I have made a lot of new friends.

I had Physics and Further Mathematics lectures for the first 2 weeks of the holidays. Just came back from a chalet with my secondary school NPCC squadmates. Feeling too tired to think properly.

Will share more later. Now is time for a good, long rest….

Special Papers…

I’m eligible to take 2 Special Papers! I will be taking the Mathematics and Physics S-Papers.

Watched 2 movies these past 2 days. The first was viewed yesterday and it was The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. Though some might think that watching this movie might not be a good idea, I decided that I would give it a shot (much of my decision was influenced by my younger sister). Since I didn’t catch the first, I was not sure about the plot, but 10 minutes into the movie I was properly introduced to the 1st installment of the movies. It was quite an enjoyable movie about the workings of an aristocracy of a small country. There were some places where the audience were permitted to laugh at the princess’ clumsiness to liven up an otherwise bland show. I believe that this movie might be classified under the broad category of “Comedy”.

The other movie was Cellular. I watched it today, after Choir practice, with 5 classmates, 2 of which were also my choirmates. It was a thriller about a woman who was kidnapped by five men. As the story progresses, more information is revealed to the audience. It turned out that the people who kidnapped the woman were part of a group of 7 (or maybe more) corrupt police officers. They were caught by the woman’s husband on a videotape while they confronted and killed an innocent man in broad daylight. They held the woman hostage to use her as bait to force her husband to give up the videotape. They also held her son hostage.

The story starts with the woman sending her son off to school. While at home, the five men intruded her house and killed her housekeeper during the conflict…

Suddenly don’t feel like elaborating… Bye for now.

Blogging in School. How exciting!

Argh! I’ve been attacked by a swarm of mosquitoes last night (actually early this morning at around 1 a.m.). The savage little blighters bit me all over. They’ve even managed to cause my left eyelid to become swollen. Please do not be offended if you see me today. I’m not winking at you; just can’t keep my left eye open.

I’m posting this entry from school (by email so that no one passing by would take a closer look at what I’m really doing). I’m in Computer Lab 1, the lab that is constantly patrolled by the vicious technician, notorious for his loud criticism of innocent computer users like myself.

I have about 1 hour before Choir starts. I’ve brought 2 1.5L soft drinks and 2 crackers for this evening’s party after Choir.

Many terrible things happened today before I arrived in school. On my way to the supermarket this morning to get the snacks and drinks, I chanced upon a dead snail without it’s shell. It had dried up some time ago and had attracted quite a few flies. The sight of the greenish yellow snail flesh sent chills up my spine, but since it was bright daylight, it did little to haunt me. My guess is that it had been attacked by hungry mynahs or crows.

On my way back from the supermarket, my mobile phone rang. Sadly, it was deep in my bag and by the time I extracted it out, it had stopped ringing. Turned out that a teacher had been trying to contact me. A return call resulted in the General Office at the other end. Since I didn’t know who tried to call me there was nothing I could do. Teacher, if you are reading this, contact me soon if it is urgent.

Long winded today. Shows how boring my life really is. The third terrible thing is having to wait in school for Choir to start, with the technician’s eyes boring into my back.

Pardon me if I seem weird today.

Happy Birthday to…

Today was Chinese AO day! After 3 hours of writing, I can safely declare that the days of painful Chinese examinations are over! It’s a bit ironic, since for the composition (Paper 1) today I wrote the argumentative one (Question 3) and argued that we should place equal emphasis on both Chinese and English languages. But it’s true that I feel a bit relieved (not to mention a bit regretful) that 11 years of Chinese studies have finally culminated in an uneventful paper.

After Chinese exam, I went with Yen Soon to the Gallery to wait for choir members. We had sent out SMS invitations to most of our choir members to take part in a movie outing the day before. Sadly, there were only 4 people left when we set off for Plaza Singapura.

We took 22 to Serangoon MRT Station and then took the MRT train to Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station. Since PS is just above the MRT Station, we didn’t need to walk far before arriving at the ticketing booth. Once there, Yen Soon and I waited while Melinda and Felicia selected which movie to watch. Since we already had Shark Tale in mind, we decided to watch the 1420 show. After buying the tickets, we went to PastaMania for lunch.

Melinda and Felicia had Chicken and Beef Bolognese while Yen Soon and I shared a 10″ Hawaiian Pizza. It was then that I realised that the pizza from PastaMania tastes so much better than that from Pizza Hut.

At 1420, we entered the theatre. Shark Tale was quite popular with the younger generation (younger than us). It was about a small fish named Oscar and a shark named… erm… oops I forgot the name. Anyway, the nameless shark was a vegetarian and Oscar was a very, very small but very, very ambitious fish at the bottom of the food chain. Oscar wanted to become famous and wealthy and to live at the top of the coral reef (in other words, to be at the top of the food chain). By a stroke of luck, he happened to claim credit for the death of the nameless shark’s brother and he became famous.

Meanwhile, the nameless shark wanted to hide from his father, who was worried for his safety upon hearing that his first son had died. Stricken with grief due to his brother’s death and terror of being forced to eat meat, the nameless shark chanced upon Oscar and they formed an alliance to serve each other’s purposes. Oscar wanted his status as a shark-killer to be proven in public, and the nameless shark wanted to disappear. Hence they put up a fight in public, with the nameless shark deliberately losing to Oscar.

Shark Tale, in short, is a computer-animated movie with a lot of small incidents and side-stories which shape the behaviour and destiny of the main characters. At the end of the show, Oscar finally admitted to the hoax and went back to his whale-washing job. Similar to Walt Disney cartoons, the show has a happy ending, with the sharks making peace with the rest of the fishes in the Coral Reef (though I wonder what they’ll eat, since they can’t just all change to vegetarians, can they?).

Just want to take this opportunity to wish Melinda a Happy Belated Birthday! (Sorry for the delay). I still owe you a present though, please wait a while more…

I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You (Elvis Presley)

Wise men say only fools rush in
But I can’t help falling in love with you
Shall I stay
Would it be a sin
If I can’t help falling in love with you

Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand, take my whole life too
For I can’t help falling in love with you

Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand, take my whole life too
For I can’t help falling in love with you
For I can’t help falling in love with you
