Jubilation!

Hurray! 7 people of my class made it to the Promotional Examinations Honour Roll! We managed to clinch the
1st,
2nd,
14th,
16th (that’s me),
18th,
21st and
34th positions.
I’m kind of embarassed actually. Imagine being 16th out of 35 people, neither up nor down.

Final Year-End Results:
Further Mathematics: B
Mathematics: A
Physics: C
Computing: A
General Paper: B4
Chinese ‘AO’: B4

After school, we went to the condominium opposite the school to have a barbecue party. Many teachers were invited, of which Ms. Gopal (Form, GP, PW teacher), Mr. Teo (Chinese teacher), Mr. Neo (FM lecturer), Mr. Heng (FM teacher) and Mr. Sim (Physics teacher) came. Mr. Sim even brought his whole family! We had fried rice, fried bee hoon, chicken wings, sausages, crabmeat, marshmallows, and the list goes on. It was an evening of intense social activity!

PW beckons. Catch you later!

For your information…

Just for those who are still unsure of which results to use when filling in the OGL or Special Paper Forms, I’ve checked with Mrs. Lim (the HOD of Mathematics) and she has confirmed that we are to use the results that are to be released to us on this coming Friday (29 October 2004).

2046

Watched 2046 with classmates today.

A few surprises:
1) It is mostly in Mandarin, with some Japanese.
2) No, it is not some sci-fi movie about what’s going to happen in 2046.
3) Yes, it is really NC16.
4) You’ll have to see it to understand it (it can’t be explained in words).

Just for your information (call it General Knowledge if you want):

If you happen to try to install Windows XP Professional and can’t seem to boot from the bootable CD, try this: Windows XP Professional Utility: Setup Disks for Floppy Boot Install

Hope it helps.

PW

Can you imagine how crazy it is to have PW on a Sunday?! Sadly, my teammates decided on doing PW today. Equally crazy, I decided to comply.

I arrived in school at 8:25 a.m., way earlier than the agreed meeting time of 9:30 a.m., after walking to the two back gates and finding them closed and then walking through the main gate:

My route.

OGL

Yesterday I went to watch a choral performance by Ensemble Amarcord with my choirmates. Ensemble Amarcord was founded in autumn 1992 by former members of St. Thomas Boys Choir. The current line-up comprising Wolfram Lattke (tenor), Dietrich Barth (tenor), Frank Ozimek (baritone), Daniel Knauft (bass) and Holger Krause (bass) has remained stable since 1995.

The performance began with songs like Primal words. Orphic by Siegfried Thiele and ended with the German Folk Song The Hunter. Though most of the songs were in German, there were one or two in English and I had a wonderful experience listening to their songs, which were all powerful and full of emotion.

At the end of the performance, the five chorists charmed the excited audience with two encore pieces, which were hilarious and totally entertaining. They demanded difficult body language and provocative actions, which were rarely seen in performances of such grandeur.

I felt that it was a well-spent evening of music and laughter.

I just decided to be an OGL (Orientation Group Leader) to welcome the next batch of Nanyang JC students. Wish me luck!
